Job Summary
Responsible to the assigned supervisor under general supervision for performing architectural work activities and projects requiring the application of knowledge and experience with building design and construction. Accomplish assigned objectives in a safe, and efficient manner. Responsible for development of approved project scopes from programming and site evaluation through final documents for bidding and permitting. Performs architectural work directly and manage outside architectural and engineering consultants. Serve as a subject matter export for the company in any needs or questions that arise related to building design and construction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Possesses the authority and knowledge to make some technical decisions based on calculated risks without management review; makes decisions affecting long range plans and goals based on analysis of highly uncertain input and outcomes; visualizes long term results; makes decisions where differences of opinion are likely to exist; makes decisions which have an impact across organizational boundaries.
Demonstrates vision in identifying business opportunities for the organizational unit.
Identifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to complex problems that are unique to the organizational unit and requires specialized knowledge of facility design and/or problem-solving techniques.
Leads in the preparation and presentation of the most complex designs, clearly, concisely, and persuasively, bringing in ancillary issues before senior management, professional organizations, regulatory bodies, etc.
Builds teams and networks that extend through AEP, and other companies, professional organizations, regulatory agencies, and academia.
Leads, facilitates and coordinates work activities of others within work group, team, department, corporate entity, or those external to the company and assumes the role of project or function manager for assigned tasks.
Develops, recommends, and implements plans to address organizational unit issues within specialized field of design expertise.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education requirements are listed below:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering in a program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).
Work Experience requirement listed below:
- Minimum 4 years' experience as an Architect.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:
- NCARB Certification in any U.S. state is required for this position.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Physical demand level is Sedentary

Incumbent is accountable for making sound recommendations and decisions that have an impact across organizational boundaries.
Depending upon assignment, position may entail some travel and exposure to situations which require the knowledge, understanding and adherence to applicable safety procedures.
Master's degree in architecture preferred
May require extended hours to accomplish assigned tasks to meet requirements and schedules.
Demonstrates vision in identifying business opportunities for the organizational unit.
Proficient in the use of MicroStation or AutoCAD
Valid state driver's License required.

Compensation Range:
$94,225.00-122,490.00 USD
