Job Summary

Responsible for organizing, managing and collaborating activities related to AEP's transmission network interconnecting customer needs to meet the individual and collective demands of its customers in a reliable, cost effective and timely manner. The position requires collaboration with various Transmission groups in order to fulfill customer application requests for either new transmission facilities, upgrading existing transmission assets impacting customers, analyzing behind the meter generation requests impacting the transmission system, coordination of study results, leading various transmission requests throughout the transmission organization, coordinating with FERC System Interconnection Agreements for appropriate study and contract documentation or communicating status updates to the RTOs and/or directly with customers. The position will manage, organize, assess and recommend transmission application and study result and reliability data communication in respect to interconnection supply points of interconnect, both internally and externally, for alignment to good utility practice and a customer centric culture.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Contribute to the formulation of Transmission's goals and strategies; organize and manage the activities of Transmission Interconnection Services to align its work plan in support of those goals and strategies.

Organize and manage interconnection request activities to assure that system reliability goals, RTO tariff and criteria are accumulated in an efficient manner to provide transmission service to diverse customers, including other Investor Owned Utilities (IOUs), Generation IPPs, munis, coops, large industrials through affiliate OPCO(s)., or other behind the meter generation market requests impacting transmission.

Organizing various requests that align to documented transmission operations requirements or guidelines. Continuing focus on metrics across both distribution and transmission.

Manage the customer response processes by which analyses are carried out and recommendations are made regarding system improvements and balancing and communicating customer needs.

Obtain the approvals for system improvements. Assure the quality and timeliness of customer requests support as needed for the formulation of corporate and business unit policies, strategies and communications, as well as adhere to RTO requirements Lead in generation supply interconnections across AEP’s three RTOs.

Ensure Transmission reliability compliance standards are understood, documented and are included in initiating interconnection request documents or processes to ensure the activities of NERC, the RTOs and other industry groups in matters dealing with interconnected network analysis and planning, in order to represent AEP's interests and constructively influence their activities.

Establish and maintain communications and liaison with other groups within Transmission and the company to achieve corporate and business unit objectives.

Manage and lead the identification, justification, development and scoping of the interconnection requests and project initiation for the assigned Region, and the hand-off of results for the completion of the fully executed interconnection agreement

Expansion across other non-native RTOs may be required. Work closely with the Regional Teams including Asset Renewal, Engineering, Project Management, Operations, Distribution, and Construction Management to ensure online completion of Transmission targets.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education : Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an ABET accredited (or equivalent) university or college.

Experience : Minimum of eight (8) years' related engineering experience . Three (3) years' management/supervisory experience is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) designation.

INITIAL POSITION / BASE SALARY FUNDING: ($129,963 - $168,954). In addition to base salary, AEP offers competitive Total Rewards including: discretionary annual and long-term incentives, 401(k), pension, health insurance, vacation, etc.
