Job Summary

Under general direction/independent initiative, provide performance support for the business unit. Responsible for such things as developing and monitoring safety, performance and reliability metrics, conducting process improvement initiatives, and budgeting and variance reporting of O&M and Capital. Benchmarking studies, pricing studies, and other profitability and statistical analyses responsibilities as required. This work will be complex to highly complex in nature; this position is considered to be reserved for employees who display expert level competencies.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitor progress towards goal achievement and provide regular reports, with root cause analyses as required, to management.

  • Develop and monitor business unit operational measures regarding safety, human performance, reliability, customer experience/satisfaction, workforce planning/productivity, etc.

  • Analyze data and process flows to determine performance of existing business unit processes; recommend and implement process improvement initiatives when applicable.

  • Manage the planning and budgeting activities of the business unit O&M and Capital resources. Prepare and evaluate monthly O&M and Capital variance reports. Monitor and re-project capital project expenditures.

  • Assist in the preparation of Lease Improvement (LI) and Capital Improvement (CI) Requisitions, as needed.

  • Benchmark business unit performance against other companies in the industry and within the business unit to find and share best practices. Evaluate competitors and vendors.

  • Investigate and implement automated methods for measurements of business processes.

  • Act as a liaison for business unit employees and corporate business units regarding contractor contract and invoicing requirements.

  • Facilitate the completion of required Sarbanes-Oxley reviews.

  • Collaborate with other business units and corporate groups, as needed, to ensure consistency in reporting and alignment with corporate goals.

  • Perform special studies, analysis, investigations, and assignments as may be required.

  • Demonstrate the highest standards of safe and ethical behavior and support the Company's Corporate Compliance Policy.

Basic Qualifications:

Education requirements are listed below:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, math, statistics or related field.

Work Experience requirement listed below:

Minimum of eight to ten (8-10) years' experience in performance management activities, distribution operations, business analytics, or process improvement.

Experience using the following applications/tools highly preferred:

  • Report Building and Maintenance (Cognos)

  • Dashboard design (Power BI)

  • Data Transformation (Alteryx)

  • Data queries (SQL)

  • Metrics/KPIs development

  • Data analysis/data integrity

  • Process improvement

Other:

  • Physical demand is Sedentary

  • Ability to organize and present data in a meaningful way and communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, is required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with financial systems such as Business Objects are desirable

  • Advanced degree preferred but not required

  • Some travel required

Compensation Grade:

SP20-008

Compensation Range:

$94,225.00-122,490.00 USD

Candidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate’s ability to work from an approved work location. Although the location is flexible, AEP does not have a presence in all states and localities. The following locations are NOT currently approved for this position: AK, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IA, ID, KS, MA, ME, MS, MT, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, WY, US Territories or international work locations. AEP will consider qualified candidates who are willing to relocate to an approved work location, at the candidate’s expense, provided the relocation can be completed within a timeframe that meets AEP’s staffing needs.
