Perform and coordinate complex technical and specialized work of a highly skilled nature to predict equipment failure and prescribe preventative maintenance for power generation. Requires ability to find and fix problems before they become apparent. Diagnose problems for all types of power plant equipment and coordinate with power plant personnel to repair and maintain equipment.

Perform duties in the predictive maintenance program such as: Collect route vibration, evaluate data, identify and diagnose problems, timely and accurate reporting of equipment status, visually inspect machinery and systems, balance rotating equipment, align rotating equipment, and maintain predictive maintenance equipment. Utilizing a Motion Amplification Displacement and Frequency System, collect and evaluate data, identify and diagnose problems, timely and accurate reporting of equipment status, visually inspect machinery and systems, and maintain predictive maintenance equipment. Infrared thermography surveys, evaluate survey results, identify and diagnose problems, timely and accurate reporting of equipment status, visually inspect machinery and systems, and maintain predictive maintenance equipment. Obtaining oil and grease samples, identify and diagnose problems, timely and accurate reporting of equipment status, visually inspect machinery and systems, and maintain predictive maintenance equipment. Ultrasonic acoustic surveys, identify and diagnose problems, timely and accurate reporting of equipment status, visually inspect machinery and systems, and maintain predictive maintenance equipment. Natural gas leak detection surveys, evaluate survey results, identify and diagnose problems, timely and accurate reporting of equipment status, visually inspect natural gas system equipment, and maintain predictive maintenance equipment. Set up monitoring devices to perform PdM activities, such as balancing of turbines, pumps and fans. Implement corrective action when degraded equipment or adverse trends are identified by the PdM programs. May install, set-up and maintain equipment and instrumentation related to electrical equipment optimization, boiler reliability optimization, rotating equipment or performance testing and assist in inspection, analysis and reporting. Assist in preparing necessary data for engineering studies, procedures, maintenance and operation of equipment. Prepare and maintain records as required. Participate on problem solving teams, focus groups, and various committees when appropriate. Develop subject matter experts at each power plant. Instruct and direct other employees assigned to assist in the work. Assist in the training of other employees in work of this nature. Perform duties in accordance with safety regulations, operating instructions, and current practices. Report irregularities and abnormal conditions to the appropriate supervision. Operate automotive equipment and associated equipment and perform duties incidental to the operation of such equipment. Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

This position is posted as a range. Placement in the range depends on qualifications.

Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience. Experience: Six years of power plant experience with a degree or eight years of power plant experience without a degree. For the Sr. position, eight years of power plant experience is required with a degree or ten years of power plant experience without a degree.

Prior PdM experience preferred. Good computer skills required. Must have a thorough working knowledge of the layout, construction and functions of the equipment and apparatus in and about the plant property. Must have a thorough working knowledge of plant specialized testing or monitoring equipment involved in the work. Must have a thorough working knowledge of equipment clearance procedures and the rules, safety practices and procedures applicable to the work. Must have demonstrated the ability to lead and direct other employees and coordinate the work involved. Must possess the appropriate State driver's license. Ability to travel is required. May require extended hours to accomplish assigned tasks.
